About this tool

Compression makes a file smaller by storing the same picture more efficiently — and, for lossy formats like JPG and WebP, by dropping detail you are unlikely to notice. How to use it

1. 1Choose an image, or drag one onto the box. JPG, PNG and WebP are supported.
2. 2Pick an output format and set the quality — 80% is a good starting point for photos.
3. 3Select Compress image and compare the original and compressed sizes.
4. 4Download the result. Your original file is untouched.

Settings and recommendations

• Auto format encodes a few safe options (JPG, WebP, and PNG for a PNG source) and keeps whichever comes out smallest. It never turns a transparent image into a JPG.
• Quality 80–85% is the sweet spot for photos: clean to the eye at a fraction of the maximum-quality file size. Drop toward 70% only for small or fast-scrolling images.
• PNG output is lossless, so the quality slider does nothing for it. If a photographic PNG cannot be made meaningfully smaller, Kreviax hands your original back rather than a larger 're-compressed' file.
